I came across this particular quote from a website and it just struck me on the true meaning of the verse.

We don't have the ability to choose the surroundings or family in which we grew up in, but we can definitely make better choices in our lives so we won't have regrets....

Many people, at the age of 50/60/70 or so always tink: [wat if] when I was younger and I chose to do this or that, I WOULD HAVE been a _______ or I might have gotten my dream car etc etc.

Or worse still:
This! cannot be done! Or else, I would have done so long ago..(*note: when probed, they will say they have never tried doing it before, just "felt" that it cannot be done) and normally, they are the uncles/aunties who sit, propping their leg up on the chair in the coffeeshop, digging their noses and drinking beer, complaining about injustifications done to them.

Familiar right?

Whereas for the pessimistic, when faced with problems, they sit by, doing nothing, allowing the calamity to befall them, without fail, saying: "no choice what. life still has to go on...."
And when you give them a solution to get out of this shit, they tell you: Im already stuck here, how else do you want me to move??!!

Sometimes I ask myself: what is actually wrong here??

It is really disturbing sometimes...

But then I learnt:
There are only 2 types of businesses.

1) My business

2) Mind my own business

That is, only to give advice and suggestions when asked. Otherwise, let people live their own lives and make their own decisions and mistakes.

*Note: This does not mean I don't care for my friends or family.
But it sure doesn't help for me to be living in their lives instead of my own.

Don't we always are guilty of getting carried away by other people's drama or emotions making ourselves upset when we don't get what we want?

It is never easy, but often times I believe it is possible by giving myself gentle reminders, for I am still learning too. :)

Lastly, Not forgetting this very strong and meaningful phrase taught to me by someone wise:
The day you stop learning is the day you stop earning and The day you think you have learned enough is the start of your downfall...
(YOOHOO!!! Especially for those ego driven people out there!! * WAVES!!)

I have a friend, who told me this funny scenario: people always like to think negative in the right times and think positive in the bad times...

E.g When the shares market or economic market is doing badly, people wil think: Aiyo, don't think it'll be that bad la. Government says everything will be ok...don't worry... and then they start to pray.
So when finally, the market crashes, you will then read up alot on people jumping off tall buildings in the papers...

And when economic progress is looking good, people worry still, that it's too good to be true and they start doing funny things like short changing themselves and making impulsive decisions, living in self denial, thus again leading to their downfall.. AGAIN.

Yes... Ironic isn't it??

A Bully that you should know -- a Grandma's story

I am freaking pissed as Im writing this.

Never in my mind have I expected some young imbecile, moronic 'trans' to backstab me when I am not even working in a political corporate industry.

But I guess where there's people around, such SHIT is bound to happen!!!

Always heard that the fashion industry can be pretty intense. And now! I'm getting my share of 'intensity'

You cannot please everybody. AND definitely, some people are arrogant enough to think that they are smarter and better than everybody else!

And so the story begins:.............................

One fine day, as I was slacking and resting at home, I got a phone call from my friend.

She called to tell me that her friend needed help for a theatre production organised by the student hall. Their makeup artist flew them a giant boeing 747 at the last minute and they had problems finding a replacement.

So, she asked if I could help out.

It was less than a week's notice. After I got the details on the number of people to makeup and the theatre's story line, I had to look for manpower.

It was indeed a bit of a problem because the production falls on a weekday and my khakis are not available to do it with me. (There are very few full time freelancers you see. Most of them have day jobs.)

So I thought of this person. Mr AG. This mister is actually a 'trans'. (if you get what I mean.) I met shim a couple of times. We knew each other from a shoot we did together with a random friend from facebook.

I thought I would call shim to join me in this assignment as he has introduced one major job to me.
It's just a way of saying thanks 'I appreciate it' and in return, I rope him in for my assignment.

Further more, shim has this network of freelancers in the makeup industry and probably through him, chances of finding manpower is higher. RIGHT??? makes sense so faR?

So he got 2 females from his 'network' (mind you, its just a 'network')

History of 'network':

To join this network, you probably have to be invited by shim. Created using facebook, now the popular social networking site. Hardly a big deal but he made it into a big deal. But WHO cares?? Just join for mutual benefit things lo. RIGHT?

So not long after I was 'invited' to join this network, status as: a Hairstylist, I received this welcome note.

PRO Make-up Services & Trainings is glad to welcome you on board to join the artistry team and help propel the network to the next level of growth.

I conceptualized W : PRO Make-up Services & Trainings back in 2008 with a huge mission in my mind: "blah blah blah". This is a platform (not company) for make-up artists, hairstylists, photographers, models, beauticians, etc, to seek collaboration, partnership and support for various assignments when needed.

We rely on the talents and drive of our network artists, working hard in an environment of mutual respect, responsibility and professionalism in ethics and service (take note of this so you can relate to what I have to say later). W is a pool of talent and we never stop ourselves from improving. Specially for inspiring (stupid!! it should be aspiring!!) artists, I conduct Master Classes 'blah blah', as well as sharing industry experiences in make-up artistry I have had for the past 5 over years as a professional make-up artist and trainer.

I am thrilled to see this network expanding, and 'blah'. In our jest to continuously improve our services, you are welcomed (another grammatical error) to share any form of feedback with us (nonsense! read on and you'll find that alot of things will be considered insubordination! with no rights to question authority! you think they give your feedback a hoot?), as we continue to strive for excellence.

After not long, another bombardment of directives.
(They think people so free go and read all this when we are not even employees of this network.)

C. As an Independent Artist, he/she will not be under the management and care of W Network and will NOT be given/awarded any additional benefits/privileges from our network (DUH. No big deal).
Independent Artist would have to liaise with the external event organizer himself/herself the moment he/she choose to opt out. If the event is organized by W Network, he/she will be taken out from the event immediately. (they cannot ensure that all members get assignments anyway. what BigFuck?)

D. W is the representing organization for all members registered for events with us. (SO, meaning if it's your own deal, and you engage the help of W, = they get to represent you??!! So WHAT'S the point of joining a network in the 1st place? When all they do is undercut you ultimately? you are better off on your own then!!)
Any doubt(s) in any regards to any event issues and all instructions issued from our network, should be directed straight to our management. 'Blah....' On top of that, no member or make-up artist should be questioning the authority (see??? SEE??) of an issued set of instructions. Such actions will be treated as insubordination (you think army is it?) to management and disregard to the network's hierarchical structure.

Members and make-up artists identified with such behavior have already been removed and banned permanently from this network.

More on the highlighted bits later..........

So after we confirmed the manpower and agreed on the price, shim said we need to send out an invoice. I thought, why not?

It is only right so i asked for a format for invoicing. Just so I don't get it wrong, I asked shim if he has a ready soft copy of it so he can send it to me and I'll forward it along.

When the invoice came, I saw the name W and his contact details plus a copy of terms and conditions (T & C).

I didn't think it was fair to put down his name and contact. So, I called and told him I'll delete his name and put down mine instead. But I let the network's name remain. Generous huh? He sounded a bit buey song. But who cares?

It's my client.

Highlight: The terms and conditions state that the organisation (GOVT body) pay in 7 days or else late payment will be imposed and accumulated every month.

Well I didn't think much of this at that time cause normally, this is just something standard in written in T&C.

Shim wanted the student producer to acknowledge to this invoice and T&C.

Well, they did.

So the job went well without a glitch. HOORAY

BUT ALAS!! The shit has yet to come.

So, with job done comes payment. Naturally, as this is my contact, I'm supposed to follow-up on payment issues.

A few days later, I went off on a holiday to HK. When I came back, I called the director and he then told me that his hall in charge (HIC) will liase with me for payment. I just assumed that the processing was already underway.

So I waited for the HIC to contact me, which was many days later and he told me that the finance department does not accept soft copy invoice, and that they needed a hard copy with signature. Plus they needed the invoice to include cheque's recipient's name and address. So, all the while they could not process the invoice.

From what I know of payments, usually, if you issue an invoice with a company/network name or whatever, the cheque's recipient's name has to be the same name as the organisation on the invoice.

So, I asked that MR AG outright the 2nd time if he would want to put the name of W as cheque's recipient, since that's the name on the invoice.

Shim replied,"No la, nonsense. Don't need want. Can put a person's name instead"
(In my heart I knew. Its just a fucking network and not a fucking company.)

So I then asked him if he wanted to put his network's admin's name or mine? (I'm totally cool with whatever name is put as long as I get paid.)

Shim said will put my name instead. (I need to know cause if it's my name, it's my job to follow-up on payment.)

Story very clear so far right?? Let's move on.

After receiving this info, I quickly called MR AG to get him/his admin to mail over the invoice. It was a friday then. He told me he is unable to do so immediately and his admin is on leave. So the fastest is only on Mon. So fine. Im not in a hurry anyway.

BUT then, I only received another call from HIC again, also on a friday, saying that the finance department cannot approve the cheque because the invoice name and the cheque's recipient's name doesn't tally!

They need an authorisation letter to state that I was the authorised recipient. If not I just have to issue a personal invoice. So WHICH MEANS the network invoice is VOID!

ARGH! I was frustrated! Why wait till friday? But well, being govt bodies, they are stricter in these paperwork.

So, I immediately called MR AG back and told him about this. I gave him 2 options:
1) Get your admin to issue another letter OR
2) I issue my own invoice

Again! His admin is not available! And that's when he went berserk! Saying their admin lapse is not his problem and that they have exceeded the payment due date. They will have to pay a 10% late payment to compensate us!

And that's WHEN I knew the 1st time when shim sent the hard copy over, shim has attached a 'warning' letter and the bloody T & C again, without my knowledge!!

"Warning" letter sample:

"1. Please take note that there is an outstanding payment amount of S$X initially due on 07 April 2010. The initial invoice and Terms and Conditions for Services/Trainings, were sent to the job requesters and c.c. to my Chief Admin Officer by [Me] (Job Coordinator) via e-mail on 25 March 2010. On 26 March 2010, [Miss A] replied and acknowledged acceptance of our Terms and Conditions stated.

2. Apparently, there had been some miscommunications regarding payment procedures among multi-parties. As one of the show’s committee members had already agreed via e-mail to our Terms and Conditions, any late payments would be liable for overdue charges. Given the current situation, the payment will not reach us by 07 April 2010, which will then be liable for overdue charges. [Me] had already clearly explained the issues to me. On that account, I will waive the overdue charges this time round. (woah! you think you the boss/president isit?)

3. Hence, my administration department issued a new invoice. Do note the new deadline for payment receipt of S$X is 16 April 2010. Kindly issue a crossed cheque to the recipient as stated under remarks in the invoice. There will be a monthly overdue charge of 10% for any outstanding balance not received in full by the stated new deadline.

Fierce le? When I asked HIC if he has received this letter, he affirmed it but then it was ignored... WTH? I mentioned to him about the late payment and he replied, saying that the finance will not be issuing any late payments.

OOPS! GULP...

(Understandable! Cause it's a GOVT body! DUH!!!!)

I didnt harp on it much after. But not that bloody mother fucker.

Well I've done Govt institutions before. The fastest to receive payments is 1 month! So I feel this is nothing. Just some communication glitch.

It HAPPENS RIGHT?

But HIC was nice and apologetic and he promised to see to this issue personally and make sure payment will be out asap.

All these while I have been constantly updating the other 2 members and MR AG regarding payments.

*Remember AGAIN we are talking about a GOVT education institute here

So after HIC came and took my invoice from me personally, which Im very grateful for, I informed shim I've already issued my personal invoice over to them.
(HIC can dont bother to come down one you know?)

Shim wasn't happy at all! Shim kept saying they will be held liable for the late payment no matter what!

Shim forwarded me the email attached with the letter above and this message:

"See attached letter for your info.

I will also write an email to HIC tonight when I get back and cc to all involving artists regarding their admin lapse. He will need to give us an official explanation. If any part we deemed unable to apprehend or accept, (you think you cannot accept, other people must listen to you? They haven even began to question you!) I will bring to the attention of the Hall Master."

WTF!!!???

ME, being the ever peace lover, definitely DO NOT want the mad idiot to mess things up!
It is APPARENT he wanted to blow things up!

So, I had to stop him and so I replied that I do not want him to send any letters without my prior approval. What if we couldnt get even the principal amount??

*Govt body may just tear everything to pieces just because some irritating house fly is bugging them to pay late payments with no basis at all! It will be so unfair to all the other 3 of us!

Shim got angry and another freaking bombardment email came into my inbox:

"A cover letter accompanying the invoice is necessary and part of the network's admin/financial practice. The admin team or myself do not have to get prior consent, explain or cc copies of our cover letters/emails sent out to external agencies to any of the artists involved.

As agreed, I will not interfere this matter for now and will not send further correspondences to the external management and let you handle this case solely. However, if this matter is taking way too long to resolve, I will handle the matter the network's way. This is to uphold the operations of the network and we do not need any external organization, be it private or government-aided, showing disregard to any of our matters and documentations, even as a freelance network like W.
[Govt body] has already 'breached' our service terms and conditions, the 10% overdue credit charge is definitely incurred. If they continue to blatantly ignore and disregard, W Network will continue to send "LATE PAYMENT REMINDER" every month via snail mail (haha!) and overdue rates will continue to snowball monthly. 'Blah fucking blah'

For years ( since 2008?) as a network, we have never experienced such complicated issues in regards to payment from any local educational institutes. (from my very accurate sources, that's because the school was the sponsor for the institution and he is just only put to be in charge! No charges were collected!) Even big cosmetic companies (from my very accurate sources, it's only 1 and it's not his deal) we worked with are very flexible and very prompt with payment term issues (regards to who to credit cheque payment to), with the exact same format of Quotation/Invoice and Terms & Conditions used. (oh please! cause it's private sectors!) So, this [govt body] case of unnecessary administration lapse is considered the first. (MR AG mentioned he has 5 + years in this industry. How is it possible you have never encountered such 'delayed' payments from govt educational sectors before? All govt institutions do things the same way. HE IS LYING ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE. Anybody with the right mind can tell that the way shim is handling things are sooo ignorant and childish!)

Also, as per SMS conversation yesterday, W will no longer accept any jobs requested, organized or in-relation to Hall Productions. (can you believe his arrogance?)"

Im only 2 years + in this industry, definitely worked a few govt sectors assignments (so i know its totally normal in this late payment issue) and some mini and major events and I dont even think I should be this arrogant!

You 5 + years and you h ave not got such assignments before?? What a sad joke!

*I highly suspect MR AG is acting as his own admin. He is acting like a low class diva and on 2 accounts, his admin is not available when he happens to be not free either!

**PUT 2 & 2 together and the probabilty of shim acting as his own admin is very high.

So after I got the payment from HIC personally (all within a month), I quickly transferred the agreed principal amount (without late payment of cos!) to every one.

HOORAY!

And you thought this saga is over?? I THOUGHT SO TOO.

Another bombardment email this time, cc to people who is not even involved! For god's sake!!!

"Dear All,

This is already a case of Terms and Conditions Breach.

[me],

You approached W Network for event/manpower support from our end. To protect the rights of our artists, we have terms and conditions in place for ALL EVENTS. From my records, you are also one of the registered members of W Network too. Since it has been agreed for us to issue Quotation/Invoice from our end, this event will be COVERED (just because i asked you for a quote doesnt mean you have the rights! IS THAT UNDERCUTTING RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE???!!!!!!) by our network's Terms and Conditions till payment is received. (I cannot let him create trouble for me, the other 2 people who was involved, my friend who recommended me this job and her friend)

(THis F idiot has no brains cant help when shim doesn't get the BIG picture.)

As the main coordinator for this job, you are the ONLY LIAISE with the [govt body] personnel. The admin team and AG do not have any contacts of the personnels you are liaising with. It is only through AG that we get information and updates for this case (OF COURSE! what has it got to do with admin when you are not a company in itself??). My admin team would appreciate if you could give us regular follow-ups and updates to everyone involved in this event via e-mail.

For your information, the invoice issued by W is on-behalf of PROPER AUTHORITY (i.e. the CEO and Advisory Board), and authorized personnel like myself (Chief Admin Officer) and Ag. Chief Finance Officer are allowed to sign all official quotations/invoices only. The [govt body] should not be questioning the authority of our documentations and who should we address the cheque to, on the deadline of cheque payment (16 Apr 10). They should not be requesting us to send another Letter of Authorization to authorize you as payment recipient -- This wastes unnecessary admin time again.

(what big fuck are you admin people? Anyway admin people are supposed to do things like that! Besides they have every right to question when invoice and name doesnt tally ! can you believe this idiot's ignorance??!!)

(But well.......... if he is his own admin, he probably has to multi task and therefore it's like wasting his time on his part as the CEO..... Hiak hiak hiak!!! :D)

Although AG has verbally authorized you to send an unofficial invoice under your name to expedite payment --- This, by right, is not allowed under the Network's Regulations, as Terms and Conditions are not attached with it (your T & C not even vetted, no reason I should follow blindly like a dumb idiot) , [govt body] may use this loophole to refuse overdue payment (precisely! so how can I allow your stupidity to hinder this?). To resolve: You are to emphasize the clause of overdue payment into the unofficial invoice. Also, you are to forward to us the soft copy of the invoice you sent out to them. (WHY SHOULD I?!!!)

This is a serious issue in regards to payment delay (admin lapse) (how serious can an admin lapse be? everyday there are always some form of miscommunication.) and service contract breach, it is the duty of our network's Highest Authority to settle this case and they do not need or seek your prior consent for further actions. They have the absolute rights to take actions to the best if things get out of hand. Please bear in mind that this case is not about your own PERSONAL ISSUE or possible working relationship dispute with anyone not related to our network. (you are making it out of hand.)

Please see to this matter immediately and ensure that HIC is well-aware that overdue charges have already been incurred. If the final payment of $X, plus an overdue payment of 10% of the outstanding balance (S$X) are not received within 7 calendar days, i.e., by 25th April 2010 (Sunday) - NO MORE EXTENSION / NEGOTIATION. Once the deadline is up, our CEO will not only arrange a meeting with the Hall Master (Prof. X), but also file the case to WOC Network's Advisory Board and they may take this case up to the Small Claims Court if [govt body] continues to ignore the clause for Overdue Payment due to their administration lapse. As long as there is injustice, be it whether they are Private or Government sector, we will take legal actions when necessary.

(MUAHHAHAH!!! Small claims court for late payment against govt body?!)

*p/s: amount of late payment is not even enough to buy 11 pieces of $10 clothing

This harsh move is to be fair to our make-up artists (??????), as such administration delay in payment is simply not acceptable in our management.

Concurred with J - Noted with. This is the final job with [govt body]. FUC will no longer take any more jobs from them."

YET ANOTHER ANNOYING EMAIL!

"Dear Advisory Board (WHO the hell this board is? NO IDEA. Maybe make believe???) ,

Till date, there have been no mentions of any actions/response from [me] via e-mail/call/sms. Our Network Artists have reported online bank transaction of $X per artist is underway and there is no mention of LATE PAYMENT AMOUNT OF $x (FOR FUCK'S SAKE???! COME ON!) (due to Admin Lapse from [govt body]) being paid to

the Network. The Admin Department has yet to receive any soft copy of the unofficial (WTF!? My personal invoice is unofficial when it's my deal???!!!!!!) invoice sent out by [Me].

The Admin Department will also continue to send LATE PAYMENT NOTICE monthly to [govt body] and late payment amount will snowball accordingly. The network will now officially open this case to the Advisory Board for further actions and investigations. (GOOD! lawyer fees incurred by shim for such a simple case! More than happy to do so!)

The CEO will report this matter in detail in a separate e-mail including all relevant documents for immediate investigation and will be arranging a meeting with the Hall Master soon."

So with this shit load in my hands, I had to find out on business laws. So I asked every and anyone available and ALL of them said shim has no basis at all because the invoice issued by his stupid network, in stricter terms, can be considered as fraud!
Further more, shim has the cheek to say that govt body has NO RIGHT to question their documents! *GUFFAWS WITH LAUGHTER*

"Formal meeting with [govt body] hall master is being arranged.

The board would like to stress to you again that this case is not about your INDIVIDUAL/PERSONAL issue. The Hall infringed on the Network's Service Terms and Conditions (due to their serious administration lapse), not your T&Cs. Please get this point right.

Now I really think Im overcompensating on my blogposts. But what the hell.

Today I wanna bleep about:

What's with Sporean men nowadays talking about Sporean girls being not good enough and too demanding for them?! They'll rather go for foreign brides?! Sporean girls are too materialistic. They want too many things.....???

NOT TRUE!

How sexist! And so in defence to this particular remark, I've had the honoured opportunity to throw this question back at said 'Sporean man'

Me," What makes you think the problem lies with the females? Have you thought that maybe it is the men who couldn't catch up?

Heh heh heh...

'Said Sporean man' was stumped. He admitted maybe. So MAYBE he is not so sexist after all.
(Im sorry XXX!! You know who you are! Im not targeting enemic arrows at you. But if you happen to read this, Well You read it!! hhahahahah)

So right here Im not going to try to take sides, but choosing to tackle this interesting issue as a Sporean female.

Though I count myself lucky because when desperate measures are needed, I can pass myself off as some foreigner, considering I get lots of comments from people saying I look like various nationalities..... haha!!!!!!

Expecting us to be understanding while he goes have fun with boys on 'Boy's night Out'?

The list goes on toilet roll long.....

OH my god. I get cold feet as I come up with more shit.

So my point is:

Sporean females have evolved into choosing not to take in nonsense-Ssss mentioned above. Times have changed.

So they demand ('Request' if this makes you happier :D) a fair share of contribution from hubby because a relationship/marriage is a two way traffic. What about us having to put up with men's fatal weaknesses since the ICE age then HUH?

If we have to put up with such nonsense, naturally we want monetary or material benefits to compensate us for better well being of our mind, body and soul. Technically speaking.

I would surely call this a: Cause and Effect Phenomenon.

Going for foreign less developed females just because you are afraid or JUST cannot fulfill is nothing wrong. BUT Dont just stereotype us without self reflecting on your flaws first. No one's perfect. That's what communication is for!

How I Transited over to 2012 With a Bang.

~~~Virgin Surf Trip In Cherating Malaysia with a bunch of piggy doggy friends! as the chinese saying goes:

It was the Most Awesome New year ever!!! Very likely cos its not spent in Singapore doing sticky yucky boring countdowns..

Anyway Surfing is highly recommended for the mind, body and soul.

Mind being ---Peace and tranquility just sitting on your surf board, staring out to sea and watching the waves with no fear of drowning cos the board floats.
Secondly, water level is just up to waist level!

Body being---You get a great tan albeit abit too wrinkled and shrivelly....

Soul being--- Smack in the face of nature. Away from the mundane, the rat race and the nonsensical.

The Beach!!

We were really really nervous for our surf adventure. We aren't good swimmers. AT ALL

Adding on to the already nervous tension. I have no idea what he was trying to do at that time. hahhah

We were supposed to be watching a safety video on surfing.

As you can see, I look really really nervous.

Fire got soo Good He managed to surf 3 boards at one go. *kowtow*

That's me! :D I managed to actually surf! Im on cloud 9

How we were actually taught to surf is that, the instructor first told us to try out the board on the sand to determine which stance we will be using i.e right /left foot in front. Goofy vs Natural stance.

And off we go dragging our boards like canines into the water! Macho comes with us.

Further and further we go and then we were taught how to watch the waves.
So when the right one is coming along, WE jump onto our boards quickly and paddle towards shore as fast we can. Macho then helps us along by giving us a strong push, so when the wave breaks and crashes against our boards, there is a force great enough for us to stand up and balance and surf the wave!!!

WE did this for 4 hours straight.
Freaking great experience. I was dying from the cramps in my muscles. But Still I clung on, to my board.
At the end of it all, I got horrible abrasions on my elbows, knees and toes.
*Plus, I got whacked on the chin by the board on the 2nd day of surfing. It made me see double + stars. Cut inner cheek and swollen chin. WTH.

Surrealism

Fire, being cheesy, stuffed a pack of clothes into his suit cause our hands were all busy carrying our boards.

So, to entertain our sick appetite for ugly pictures, he gamely posed this for us.

It was hilarious!!!

Fire is very upset the board is weighing 'his already not so impressive' height down.

The snacks and booze we brought. Thanks to the thief like escapade of removing them from Fire's dad's humble abode....... (the booze ---> the Macallen + 2 bottles of Red wine)

We stopped him by flailing our arms desperately from the open car window....

We are happy with our Icees :D

At this moment, we were discussing something really serious here. Trying to enlighten Fire how tampons work. And If The tampon will work for me when I go in the water to surf?!!! Hell!!!

After we have come to a conclusion and I was satisfied and convinced, We say cheese for the camera.

I just don't understand why they like to take pics of people snoozing....

By this time, we were mostly high & tipsy with the exception of Mini. Cause he is a damn good drinker. Poor him. We played silly games that got us roaring with lots of crazy laughter. Laughter is the best medicine. WEll, at least for me.

Today I am going to share a fun activity to do to keep in shape and healthy! Now that's what I call killing 2 birds with one stone... (okok sorry. no animal casualties please....)

THAT activity is : DANCING!

Come, here are some fast facts on dancing

IT helps to:
* Tone your muscles ( I have muscles on my arms but I think this is contributed by lugging around my crazy big bag for work)
* Improve your flexibility (yes I think I React faster now )
* Make your heart stronger
* Make your lungs work better.
You can burn up to 200 calories in just 10 minutes for moderate rate of dancing!!

Some key things to keep in mind, do wear proper shoes and attire easy for stretching during dance.
Make sure you are properly warmed up before you start jiggling around so as not to tear any tendons/muscles! (Don't worry this is not prone to happen on an often basis. But it is a possibility and we want to make sure we enjoy our dance ya?)

My Painting My Love My Life

Inspired by a sketch I saw on my holiday in USA.
Acrylic paint on canvas.

I painted this for my beloved. So that he will always remember me while discovering his Life's journey.

I named this: Kazzie's Happy Place.

The bright colours made me feel happy and I thought: this is the closest thing I know to give happiness to him.

His dream is to have a restaurant of his own, because he is a chef by profession.
And there will be happy porters, waiters and waitresses just like in the painting.

1) I finally got my long time dream come true! I flew to phuket for a pre-wedding shoot!
(Oei, you may only thing it's a small deal, considering it's only to phuket. But it is a big deal for me ok! ) - holidaying and work all in one! :)

I would cross my fingers and pray to go to further places. like PAris? London?? MILAN?????

2) recently got featured in a Chinese lifestyle magazine called 生活
Im supposed to show tips on the many ways to wear a shawl... Being a model is sooo hard!

3) starting up a concept lifestyle wedding photography company with friends!

Ah hell!! I did not expect myself to appear in the papers with a relatively big full shot of myself!

I probably would have missed it because I don't read the papers often.
But well................. Maybe Not cause I have the habit of browsing the headlines on all the cover pages to check for interesting news worth reading. So, it happened that I was also conveniently on the front page of lifestyle showing a smaller picture of me.

I got the Max of 5 drink coupons from Shanghai Dolly in Clarke Quay!

There's this huge guy "mascot" in Shanghai Dolly, dressed in cheongsam (practically in drag) holding up the tags: "Im Dolly-licious" (which I got) & "More effort please!" (which some others got)

Antalis Fashion Show

The Paper of all paper shows is here!!!

This one is for fashion! You never knew you can do SUCH artsy stuff with paper! It is not merely something for you to write on, or blow your mucus on or wipe your ass with.... (By that I mean tissue and toilet paper....)

The show spanned over the course of 3 days.

When I first saw the different pieces of dresses half done at the 1st fitting, I was amazed! Indeed master pieces are always crafted painstakingly by hand.

My friend is the designer for the dresses. -Nicola

This is a major show for her and she called me to be the hair and makeup coordinator for this event!

A great opportunity I would say and I drew up face charts to go with the 5 different outfits.

Cause they only scored a goal in extra time! Which means that the bet has to be done in special bets category!!!!!!!!!! So technically I should have bought a draw which I did indeed wanted to JUST because PAullie chose spain but the fortune bird in little india, Mani chose Holland.

[MY gut (instincts/6th sense or whatever) was thinking: Oh so it may mean a draw then????? MAYBE??? Just maybe????!!!]

Everybody was speculating wildly. There are rumours of fried octopus/sashimi and fried wings.

So if you had followed the news, the animals are highly accurate and if you combine the 2 of them to be analysed, it SHOULD be a draw cause you would have taken both animals into account!

BUT as it was my virgin time betting with spore pools and I did not even know how to write on the slips (it was done with a help from my friend), I was just too lazy to go figure out and bet on 'draw' match.

So there is no money to be claimed now~ SOBZ!

Iron

Slimming Hair Styles

Hey peeps!! Its been a ______ time.... (please fill in the blanks yourselves)

I apologise for the lack of juice and so today I am going to reveal some great tips on how to achieve a slimmer face!

"Every girl's dreams..."

Tip 1: Volume on top.

Nowadays with rebonded flat hair being the common most manageable 'in thing', It's no wonder we all complain that we have fat cheeks......

Having volume at the crown area shifts focus upward, making the face look more oval. (the most ideal face shape)

Tip 2: Deep side parting

Parting your hair to the side breaks the uniformity of a round face and highlights your cheeks. This diagonal line is much needed to make the facial length appear longer.

Tip 3: Long hair

Keeping your hair long and straight (this does not necessarily mean pencil straight rebonded hair for all) elongates the physique. Avoid volume at the cheeks which is the fullest part of the face!

Tip 4: Layers

Layers add movement to hair and reduces the heavy limp look. Well placed layers add definition to the jawline and help hide a double chin.

Tip 5: Short with longer bangs

Fear not!! Short crops can still be suitable for your face as long the fringe is is kept longer and swept to a side part. (Think Rihanna)
Just avoid blunt ends near the cheeks which will emphasize the width.

And they make me feel good cause I feel less guilty buying them when they are this cheap.. (price range from about ~ <$15) I love their casual designs plus, the fits are fabulous!!! My Hk/Shenzhen trip

My long awaited HK treat as promised (by somebody) since long last year, is finally fulfilled on march 28th!

OOOO la la!

Didnt realise that going to hongkong can be that expensive! I thought initially the price would be the same as going to bangkok... NOOO!! IT isn't!

When I first called the travel agency, I panicked! THe price ranged from $600+ to $700+! The 1st thing that came to my mind was: my bf wont want to pay that much for this and there goes my trip!!

So I set my mind to this mission of finding the best hk deal so I get to go! And I DID!! Pat me on the back man, Im the queen at doing these mundane stuffs..... v v auntish... hahha

The deal: air tix + accom at ~ $450+/- cant remember the exact amount....

Airport transfer wasn't included cause they have public transport to get from the airport to the hotel.. very easy to navigate*...
*only advisable if you have big hunks carrying your overweight luggage back to the airport....

The timing was perfect. very early morning flight and the latest midnight flight back.

I was told not to doll up too much so as not to bring too much attention to myself. It caN BE QUITE DANGEROUS apparently? maybe?

Days in hongkong was spent scouting for good food and cheap n good shopping places...

The 1st place we went was mongkok, famously known for the young trendy fashion and their 'Ladies' street'.

We walked from our hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui to Mongkok and my legs almost gave way.... -_-

when I reached there, it wasnt what I expected! I finished walking the ladies' street within an hour or so and there was nothin much left for me to shop! Although we were still exploring the street, in my mind I was actually looking for things to buy and there aren't much!

To think I felt so proud in not spending so much on my 1st day, cause there wasnt much that caught my fancy....

What I got was actually leggings because the clothes in Ladies street aren't really to my taste at all!

I started to sulk and told bf: THIS COULDN'T BE IT!
He scratched his head and told me he got no idea where else to go... (typical typical)

BAD NEWS FOR ME cause we still have all day!

Cause he had a friend who worked in hk for awhile and she told us some good shopping places we could go to and now there isn't?

Thankfully, bf smsed his friend to ask her where to satisfy this shopaholic gf of his...

Places like lychee kok, tsuen wan, and a few more. (I forgot already considering I took so long to post this entry up... ) HAHA

I was quite excited after we knew where to shop and basically the rest of the days were spent walking all over HK, shopping, eating and a bit of sight seeing.

Plus, we planned to travel up to ShenZhen on the 2nd day where its known for cheap food and shopping! I love CHINA!

My 1st meal in HK, fish ball mian xian. They call their fish ball, 'yu dan', which I thought were fish eggs. @.@ my cantonese sucks!

Oh my! MY! I have been neglecting my blog!! Thought I ll consolidate stuff and it'll be easy but instead it gets procrastinated....

Recently been involved with events!! So fun! I love being busy! Im a shopaholic and a workaholic officially! Enjoy while it lasts......

It was held at Resorts World Sentosa! I thought for a minute I ll get the chance to explore the attractions inside resort world. But in the end, there was't enough time to do so.

The closest I ever got to anything interesting was the entrance to the casino! Bling Bling! CHing! Ching!

I LOVE GAMBLING! I haven got the chance to get into the casino cause I don't want to pay $100! Unless maybe I can win it back? But no guarantee right? Cause its GAMBLING!

Me and partner Joey were just supposed to do the hair for the models. They had sponsors from Bobbi Brown for makeup.

There were more male models than females but no handsome ones! Borringgg....
No eye candy for the night.

Eyebags-How to minimise them?

It has been a really long time since I last posted!
Why?
Cause apart from being busy and having writer's block, I was feeling grumpy and grouchy a couple of times back. So, TOTALLY no MOOD!!!

Now, at least I'm feeling better, and I do not hate the world, I'm going to discuss on the topic: EYEBAGS

(why not talk about dark eye circles?) - Eyes circles can be gotten rid of using wonderful makeup/concealers if all else fails. NOT eyebags.

Why oh why do we have eye bags?

Because we are living in stressful Singapore, probably having to face the computer up to 14 hrs a day, or clubbing after work to 'de-stress' with alcohol and not having enough sleep....??

Probably...

But *most bags under the eyes are the result of accumulated fat under the eye area. This happens when the septum surrounding the eyeball weakens, causing the outer layer of fat within the socket to sink forward.

HA! And the reason why I said minimise is cause, it cannot be gotten rid except surgically called: Blepharoplasty.

Surgery? Quite scary though its fairly common and acceptable socially now.

PLUS not cheap... worth the risk? (all surgeries come with calculated risks) hmmmmmmm...........

What can we do?

THE Cucumber/Tea bag Remedy

They actually do wk! Cut thin slices and put them over the eye bag area for about 20 minutes a day. Make sure they are chilled before you use them as they act as cold compress to help in reducing puffiness. Tannin in tea reduces swelling and discolouration.

Plenty of Fluids

Drink plenty of fluids to flush out excess sodium in your body to minimise water retention that can cause swelling around eye area. Insufficient nutrients also can cause eye bags. Multi vitamins help to restore and balance these nutrients in the body

Get Enough Sleep!

Lack of sleep causes the eyes to have a sunken effect.
And by sleep, I don't mean one wonder day of sleep! It has to be a constant effort of good sufficient sleep. :)

The Potato Remedy

Ah! New method? Apparently not!
Potato contains skin lightening enzyme catecholase, which helps in restoring discoloured areas.

Allergies/Illness

If dark eye rings and eye bags are always constant, you may be suffering from allergy or illness.
ie. a kidney problem or a slow thyroid *

I don't understand why people like to play politics in a perfectly simple working environment....

Are they actually insecure? Therefore, they derive great satisfaction in bullying others in order to make themselves more superior?

They are sadists by nature, who just LOVE to see people in agony or distress when bullied??

Was working in "X" place on sunday for promotion booth. As there were no appointments yet, I decided to redo my ugly nails.

So, sat down at booth with the other gals and started to remove polish, choose colour etc....

Just as I was finishing the painting, Gal C informed us that we are not allowed to paint our nails. Saying the co-ordinator for "X" company has just called her on her mobile asking her to relay this message. How the hell she knew when she's not even there?? Because the counter manager complained to her.

AND you know what's most ridiculous?! Said counter manager (cm) was right there working with us! Why the hell can't she exercise her authority as manager and tell us (or rather me, cos gal L was filing her nails... not sure if that counts....) straight away that we can't do our nails?!! Instead of calling the office personnel asking her to call us to NOT paint our nails???

Want to call my mother or grandmother or not?

*The point of this entry is to emphasize the redundant political aspects of a particular person. Not to justify my work attitude. (I am totally contrite for painting my nails at the wrong time.)

If this is not politics, I don't know what is.

It really was super super annoying. Made us very pissed off.

That is not all!

So, if nail painting not allowed, all we can do is chit chat.

When we chat, we will crowd around in a group right? Apparently, SHE (CM) is not happy either.

After several controlled patient hours later, cm couldn't take it anymore and told us to go for an early and longer break. Giving a very nice reason in front as a cover for the TRUE reason at the back.

It went like this: "Why don't you all go for your break now?? Since there are no appointments you all might as well go shop around. Bring gal J (as she is from overseas hired by company "X") along and if there are customers, I'll call you on the mobile."

*fake smile plastered on her wrinkly face*

"Moreover, our counter so small, it doens't look nice with so many people crowded around here."

(Hello?!!! That's what you think! Like it or not we are supposed to be here, small or otherwise. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean we should be stupid enough to listen to you.)

(**WON'T we all get into trouble if someone came down for a spot check and realised we have all disappeared for an ultra long break instead of being at our work spots? Chit chatting or not?!)

This! This last sentence is the GIST of her true intention. Bet you a $100 bucks. The rest in front are all crap.

Just think, somebody like her who is a politics freak from the earlier incident, CANNOT be that kind after.

Gal L thinks we were thinking too much into her intentions, that cm can't be that bad. Bet you another $100 bucks cm is. I think L did not hear what she said after.

Miss J also had many 'incidents' with cm. She kept getting interupted by cm as she was consulting with the customers on makeup colours. (miss J is perfectly trained in all kinds of skin types)

Cm just had to butt in and give redundant suggestions as to what colour/product she thought suited the customers when she doesn't have a clue to what the customers need. She is not the one doing the consultation!

Miss J definitely is pissed off! cm totally made her feel incompetent in front of the customers.

But she is so able to keep her cool and still remain polite to her.. *Salute!*

I just avoided her like the plaque... haha Don't want to bother to argue nor talk too much.

We all went for our break and then decided to go straight back after instead of shopping around and 'waiting' for her to call.

Thankfully when we got back, she wasn't there already. THAT totally made the rest of the hours so much easier to pass........ why got such people want?!

I think the model in this pic looks a bit unflattering... But well, the focus is on THE car. Sigh.... sooooo bobian... She looks like she is just warming up can?!

To think I was super excited! They should have chosen something that flatters the model AND the car!! So when I saw this, I was kinda disappointed...

Never mind.............

Did this on the 17th of Dec so it can be published on the 19th.
I was nervous and really worked hard on not screwing up. The stylist was Trey and he has appeared before on tv for the variety show nu ren xiang. He was really nice and friendly! Not the mean and picky image I imagined... Hurhurhur

AND! AND! HE Did not even breathe down my neck and watched me with eagle eyes as I thought he would!! Thank god. I probably would have blundered if he had done that.

The whole shoot was done pretty quickly and efficiently. The only booboo was that, after we got out of the cab to the location, we forgot about the bag of Gucci clothes in the car boot! WTH

Thank thank god, uncle cabbie went to the kopi tiam to get kopi... But even if he had driven off, Trey still had the receipt so it would still be traceable if that had happened...

A lot of wild imaginations hor. hahaha

Hair (eyelash) 'REGrowth'

I have just bought myself a lash REGrowth nutritive concoction from Mavala at Sasa's.

After that damned eyelash extension from last year past, I discovered that my lashes are very prone to falling out in 2s and 3s!

I mean come on! 1 lash is enough to freak me out! But 2s and 3s?! (or maybe its age that's catching up and weakened those lash follicles.......) either way, they need rescuing before it goes completely bald!

AND AND one day, as I was washing my hair, I accumulated a clump of it! It didnt really fall out in a clump from one spot but came randomly all over as I was detangling it.

Its actually quite normal to have hair falling out. Normally the clump did not look as much as that day! So, after I threw it on the bathroom floor, I felt indignant and so I picked the clump up and started counting!

DAMN! 40 strands!! I felt kinda shitty. According to info from somewhere, it is actually normal to shed up to 100 strands a day.

*Shudders*

I cannot imagine a clump of 100 strands of hair.....

Anyway, After that fateful day, my hair did not fall out in a clump of 40s. So I guess it was just a one-off.
However! Me shall monitor closely, considering I want to keep waist length hair, therefore I MUST take good care of it!

Ok, back to the eyelash affair.

How to strengthen eyelash?

Been using the Mavala Double lash for about 6 days alr.
Indication: strengthens, lengthens and thickens lashes.
Supposed to use for a month.

It seems like my lashes are getting a bit fuller....??? or isit just my imagination?
Didnt take any pics as I have A lousy digi cam that probably cannot differentiate the individual lashes. So after 1 month, I shall use my utmost objectivity to update you all if it truly is effective!!

Won't see no reason to lie as I'm not advertising for them!! haha!!

While doing her makeup I was thoroughly enjoying myself. Totally DID NOT let the limitation of tools stop me. (cause it was super last minute)

It's not like everyday you get a willing subject who is more 'on' than you in dolling up man!

I was honoured to be the speaker for this workshop, to guide 20 ladies (specially selected) in the working industry to look groomed and chic for their everyday routine!

And the Mandom personnel, Kelly and Yun Wen were so fun loving. IT was great fun when we were discussing the layout of the workshop!!

Days before the workshop, I diligently prepared power point slides to further help in my explanations. Was actually feeling a bit 'kan cheong' because being the slightly anal perfectionist that I am, I was worried I'll screw things up. (Not that I don't know my stuff, just that shit happens you know?????)

On this important day I chose a black and white combi outfit and oxford heels. To look sleek and professional! (As in pic above)
Ahhh...... but looks are indeed very important to me. (No Im not shallow, just mindful) :D.

Too bad I didn't take any full length pics to show off my heels. Because on this day, a boy (cause he is younger than me) came to chat me up while I was waiting for Joey, my partner for the day.

His 1st pickline was, " Hi! I love YOUR HEELS and the way you look and I'll hit myself on the head if I don't come approach and get to know you." ......

HMMMmmmmmmmmm weird but interesting..... So that means I'm still 宝刀未老 la!! Can still manage to 'sort' some young punk...

It was a rainy day but luckily I think all the ladies turned up. It's great they are all so enthusiastic!

After about ten minutes of intro and warmup, I started to loosen up and get a bit 'funnier'. At least I managed to make the ladies giggle a bit.

The 2 hours flew by pretty quickly and I was relieved that there were no glitches. With our help, most of the ladies managed to get the hair and makeup technique right somewhat.. :D

At least I made sure the basics were covered.

Latest: TRIP TO TAIWAN!

Purpose: To attend best friend's wedding dinner and shopping!

I only brought $480 worth of sing dollars to spend in Taiwan. Enough or not???
Me thought I probably won't be spending toooo much, considering I have tons of girlie what nots in my room already......
(Did I mention I got rid of my old writing table and changed it to a giant wardrobe instead? So, now I got 2 wardrobes in my cramped room)

Me and friends took EVA airlines. The only off thing about this airline is that it has mad crazy departure time from Taiwan in the wee hours of the morning back to SIN. Totally sickening waste of one perfectly good day and some good sleep..... -.-

Our flight was in the noon. Flight journey was about 5 hrs +/-

feeling kinda bored, we took a few pics! Me and Meiwen, My trip buddy!

After cam whoring, I opted to watch movies on the plane instead of nap!
Oh boy did I thoroughly enjoy myself! The plane food wasn't that good though....

"The Ugly Truth" was just crazy hilarious, I was laughing out loud most of the time.

"The Orphan" was an extremely gripping and disturbing movie. It has a twist at the end and it's a MUST watch!

Ok, back to the story of my trip.

Finally we landed in Taipei Taoyuan airport at about 6 plus pm. The sky was already dark unlike Singapore where it only turns dark after 730!

I'm a daylight person! So, we hopped into our transport and the journey took about 1 hour to our lodging in Ximending (XMD) district.

After reaching Royal Castle hotel, Meiwen and me dumped our belongings and quickly went to the hubbub to scout for our dinner. Can't waste any time!!

We found this! Taiwan authentic Mee sua!! It's very good I tell you! It's 大肠面线.

After mee sua, we shopped around basically just roughly scanning out the area of XMD

We opted for the 鸡胸 (chicken breast meat) safest bet of all.

It looks like this. Actually its cold and the meat is SUPER TOUGH!! Very hard to bite off and meat keeps getting stuck in our teeth!! But the seasoning they did is very good!

And then I got smelly beancurd

Meiwen found it gross and smelly so she only took 1 bite and I gotta finish the 4 of them!
Luckily I got the beancurd dessert, so it makes the smelly beancurd easier to consume...
It tastes a bit too much after a while on its own. At least they got some side dishes like salted vege to go with it.

I found this Hello Kitty wonderful bike helmet selling freakingly cheap! So, I bought it even though I don't ride (just the occasional time when my bf rides)

After that we went crazy shopping and buying like nobody's business! I bought expensive stuff! There goes my hundred odd so bucks in one shop!!

LUNCH:

lunch was this yummy handmade noodles.. My favourite!

In only a few hours, I had accumulated a huge bag of goods, like I was purchasing as a wholesaler!

The weight of my barang was horrific , almost like that of a toddler but bulkier... Very hard to carry!

My arms were madly aching and I was super tempted to hire a porter OTS!!!
It just sucks and it got to a point where we couldn't shop anymore. (didn't want to waste $$ on cabbing so it was never an option....) haha Stingy dingbats we were.

So we took train back to hotel and then decided to go to Shilin night market after dumping our stuff!

Super crowded when we reached there. Supposed to be the biggest night maket and the most popular one in Taipei.

When we reached the station of our destination to our friend's hotel, it was raining! What's bad is that, none of us got an umbrella! My friend only got with her umbrella cap but no umbrella!! Choked for words..... hahhahahahhaha

Cannot be late some cause we do not want to risk arriving later than the groom...
So, we gotta brave the rain in the cold weather and try to walk as fast we can in heels! :(

After the groom arrives; we got him to sing a song and read love contract.

The Sabo session is too easy for the groom! Only a mere 15min! I guess its not in the taiwanese custom to play that long.... SIGH!

The food is good but too much and too rich.. bleh!! A lot of unfinished portions. I think I overheard the waitresses saying they packet the leftovers... GOOD! So there won't be wastage!

At the end of the dinner, we remembered we haven got our angbao! So we comtemplated if we should just outright ask for it.

If not now, then when?? We can't be asking the bride for it, and we won't be seeing the groom after that same day!

Luckily, we got very thick skin!
So, Claris was the one who went up bravely to the bride and asked for our ang bao and then she ran to hide behind us!! It was hilarious!

Who needs enemies when you have friends like these??

We were super desperate cause we need more NT dollars for our shopping trip! MUahhahah!!!

BUT of cause, it's more for the good luck mah! heeheeeeeeeee

Anyway, we are all happy for our friends.(we know the groom too but hang out more with the bride)

After Shida, we went back to wu fen pu again because we were not satisfied with our shopping and the area is ~3 times bigger than bugis street!

My dinner was a mini bowl of lu rou fan. Don't have enough money to try the famous roast meats at Hu Xu Zhang (supposedly famous for their roasted stuff) Pathetic.....

This year's Halloween, me and gang spent it at Zouk. Despite my numerous pleas not to because of unforgettable nightmare donkey years ago....

Why not Zouk? You ask.

1) Said donkey years ago, I went to Zouk with a couple of friends where an event was taking place (can't remember what though). It was jammed packed and I had to grip onto my friends' hand tightly so I would not lose him/her (him in front of me pulling me trying to cut Q, me trying to pull her in so we wouldn't get lost) The crowd was wild and mad, they slice through wherever and whenever they can. We got pretty squashed up!

Unfortunately, my guy friend got separated from us and he got in! We were horribly stuck outside and he can't come out to get us! Not after his successful attempt of getting in! It wasn't even free entry and the fee was mad expensive. Considering the music wasn't any fantastic.

2) Entrance fee freaking expensive for lousy music.

3) Pay 1 get into 3 places? (shouldn't be that bad right?) NAH! Velvet sucks; even worse music. Phuture? (come on! my living room is bigger than that!) forget it!

4) On top of freaking expensive entrance, there is a price increase now for Zouk. WTF.

Anyways, we still trooped off to Zouk cos the guys supposedly had reserved tables inside... Oh well, Im outnumbered so I followed.
Upon arrival, there was definitely a crowd. but it wasn't as nightmarish as I thought.

Thank God!

There was a very long Queue for the costume line as people hope to get in free when they are dressed in full costume at club's discretion.

We didn't want to get stranded forever so we opted to pay. $%^%&^&!!! $30n for girls and $38 for guys through velvet..

Paying is fine but not for lousy ungrovable music!!! ROAR!!!

OH! Hell.... Anyways, this year I decided to be a cupid. (An evil one)
Many have mistaken me for an angel.... Well I had halo and wings minus bow and arrow.... I substituted my bow and arrow for a pitchfork!! Should have gotten a bow huhs?!

After that it got sooo packed we were unable to move. Music was still lousy and after at about 2am, we all decided to go eat Bak Kut Teh!!

SO busy recently!

Well Im not complaining and it is DEFINITELY a good thing as $$$ is coming in.

I got a chance to work with a photographer who is into high fashion shoots which suits my tastes just fine!

So, I jus GRAB whatever chance I have to work with him. He uses caucasian models who just look gorgeous like 99% of the time. Just fantastic...... I feel a sense of euphoria after I see them all made up and dressed up in fantastic clothings and the pics turn out just GREAT.. Really. I feel so proud of me. :D
It just makes me feel Im in the right line.

Besides, I get to discover 'exotic' locations I didn't know existed that make for fanstastic shooting locations.

OOhhhh what a pity I didn't get a chance to even get a peep at the Maxmara fashion show. All I did see was chaos backstage when the models all rushed in for the next change of outfits.
In chinese description it was like 一盘散沙.

This was a fashion show for the opening of the Maxmara boutique in Ion orchard.

Amusing nonetheless.....

I bet the viewers in front all wouldn't have known there is so much hard work behind the scenes...
The show's focus was on body suits and sequins and caps and what nots in earth and neutral tones....
You know what? I think these clothes will look so much better on these tall and thin babes!

At the end of it all, there were people at the recep giving away free goodie bags. I didn't take it until I saw my friend fish a calf leather card holder from the paper bag...

Recently Im more involved in photo shoots and there's this one particular model, who has really pissed me off. She has only complaints and no constuctive ideas on her preferred look for her port. Her face is not that fantastic; round like moon as she whined..... Just because she has somewhat of a nosebridge, Eurasian, doesnt make her the IT model of the year...

ARGHHH!!!!!

Singapore weather is so humid and everybody knows that!! She has the cheek to stop me from using hairspray!! In the end???? Loads of hairspray is still needed for her lousy condition of a hair!!!

GH MUMM Formula 1 event

I have just completed an event assignment sponsored by champagne brand GH Mumm!
I have never heard of that brand until now! Probably because Im not a drinker of champagne...

It was one hell of a crazy event where there were 14 pax to be dolled up in the retro 1950s theme!! I had to finish all their hair in 3hrs and a half, including my partner, Siti, who is doing the makeup!

It was held at the National Museum of Singapore. Very chic and classy!

However at the end of it all, it was all worth it cause of the great sense of satisfaction and the chance to bask in the event's classy atmosphere. :)

And of cause, worth it with hot a looking model like this:

I was actually enjoying myself although I was working like crazy. We didn't have time to go for dinner at all!!! Thank God I didn't faint halfway... I only had a bowl of instant noodles and a packet of milo in my stomach all the way till 11 plus pm!!

Did I mention I'm a super fan of lipsticks? Especially pinkish and nudish tones. I just can't have enough of them! I probably have varying shades of them in different textures/formulations!

I'm naturally tanned and my normal lip colour often tends to look more reddish. "Heaty Red" as some people might say.

Putting on nudy or pinky shades of colour complements my skin tone, makes my lips look softer and kissable instead of overly swollen!

Did you know:

Lipstick actually provides protection to our lips and minimises our risk of lip cancer seven times as compared to men??! (University of California study)

Our lips are an extremely sensitive part of our body and we should provide proper protection for it.

Guys and girls, I strongly suggest you all invest in a lip balm with SPF to protect against harmful UV.

Nowadays, with the vast array of lipstick choices in the market, how do we know what to get?

Here's a general guideline to lipstick and its formulations:

The more pigments in lipsticks, the more drying it is.

There are 5 different lip forrmulations namely:
Sheer, Shimmer, Matte, Cream and Long lasting.

Mattes contain the most pigment and sheers the least.

Sheers
Give a natural wet look with only a hint of tint and different degress of shine. They don't last long on the lips and you don't need a mirror to apply.
Very simple and straight forward actually :)

Brand e.g. MAC lipgloss THE all time favourite!

Shimmers
a.k.a frosted with a metallic or pearlescent hue making the lips shimmer because it contains mica, a light reflector.

Brand e.g. Bobbi Brown Essentials Shimmer Lip Gloss

Cream
Gives a matt, velvety look without the heavy feel. It contains more oils and conditioners than mattes. Also commonly know as hydrating lipstick.

Brand e.g. Shu Uemura lipstick

Mattes
contain the most pigment making lip colour last longer. It gives a flat non shiny surface.

Tip: It is good to apply a layer of lip balm to moisturise the lips before applying the matte lip colour.

Brand e.g. MAC

Longlasting
Lip colours work on a time release principle. The heat from our lips stimulates the release of the colour. It contains ingredients found in our foundations, making it last. It can be relatively drying too.

With all the pretty colours and different textures of lip colours in the market, there is no reason to neglect those pouty/sexy lips of yours!

My Best Friend's Wedding

10th July, my best friend's, Jolene's wedding. It was kinda a nice and grand affair.. The bride looked beautiful and the sisters ever young and pretty.. heehee

I was the head bridesmaid and together with a few other sisters, we woke up really early in the morning preparing to set off to Jo's place.

The idea was for us sisters to wear pink dresses. Rose pink.
I had difficulties finding that light shade of pink in my favourite style and so with permission of Jo, I got a hot pink number instead :) Just appropriate as I'm supposed to stand out as I'm head 'jiemei' anyway.

The morning episode was hilarious. We totally had fun making the lives hard for the brothers and the groom. I was accused of laughing too evilly and that I must be the mastermind.

WRONG BIG TIME!

You all JUST didn't know women can be EVIL creatures didn't you? We were thinking of setting up a business company specialising in "Rent a Bridesmaid (Jiemei)" ! One of the sisters was so pro at it that we decided she should be the CEO....

Seriously! I think it could all work out! Just check out the movie: 27 dresses. You'll know what I mean.

After the morning ceremony was over, most of us went straight to the hotel, Mandarin Oriental.
We had a wonderful room (with a nice view of the NDP rehearsal parade ground and the ferris wheel) for us all to get ready in. The room is just shiok!

The bridal suite was fantastic and the light bites just looked totally gorgeous and yummy:

So after all the kay-po-ing in the bridal's suite, we went back to our room to bath and freshen up.

I had the honour of styling up some of the sisters' hair. Busy busy busy.
Almost didn't have time to doll myself up! (Well, for professionalism's sake, I must totally make sure that all their hair was ok before I doll myself right?)

In the end, I was slightly late for the solemnization. Thank God I still could witness most of their vows.... AWWW....

After the solemnization, was the reception and the welcoming in of guests. The hotel had the waiters serve light bites and cocktail for the waiting guests !! I did not get a chance to taste the light bites at all! I think they had prawns and smoked salmon... The classy yummy kind! :(

I specially got the flowery hairband from Forever 21 to match my black frou frou dress! I improvised my strappy heels. See those straps? They are actually ribbons that I used to tie it to my feet to look like it is connected to my wedge!

The sash was added to make me look more precious, like a gift??!!! HAW Haw Haw!.............

Dress was from MU and is designed in a very smart way. It has strings attached to the under side of the skirt so I can choose to either let it loose or tie it up for that layered effect, which I did, and I can also wear this dress as a long skirt!

The only thing I regretted not bringing was my shawl.. It was like the artic! Freezing cold...

We warmed ourselves gulping red wine....

The wedding favour was so pretty and delicious! I finished mine in no time.

Dinner was finally served and the food was just yummy. Really different from the typical dishes we usually have at chinese weddings.

I.e: Instead of shark's fin, we were served shark's fin soup with what I think was mini abalone.

The service from them was great! One server was assigned for each table. Our drinks were full all the time and the plates were promptly cleared. But a tad bit too quickly.. The left overs were cleared before we even had time to think if we should have a second helping.
My friend's untouched cod fish was almost cleared by the waitress... -_-lll

Dinner ended at 11 plus pm. Pretty late huh?

Remember the room that I mentioned earlier? I would totally be staying overnight together with Zanne! My other good friend! Just nice, with free breakfast for two the next morning!

The other girls all could not stay over. What good luck for us!

The next day's breakfast was super nice ! It was in international buffet style and everything was just yummy. I was happily indulging myself and to add to the fact that they've got this whole honey comb for us to dig honey from! FRESH!

I absolutely just love to attend wedding dinners! IT's just a great excuse for me to doll up and dress up to the nines!

Recently, I've been buying more dresses than usual.. What with the Great Singapore Sale and the many wedding dinners to attend.

Shop, shopping and More SHOPPING!

However much I dream of being a socialite, wedding dinners are the nearest form of a formal social dinner....
Maybe in future my wish might just come true!

The dress I got it from a shop called The Loft at Haji lane. It has really cool decors inside..

The dress comes in 2 colours, black and white. I got the white one and I have already worn it to someone else's wedding!!

There are a lot of weddings this year especially in June and July!

I was the hair and makeup artist for the beautiful bride for yet another wedding! I wanted to put on my other wig but I was afraid that the hair will get snagged by the big bag I'm lugging around with me.

So, I decided to save it for the dinner of upcoming best friend's wedding in JULY!

How nice it would be to be occupied while traveling from one place to another (especially from far end to far end), without feeling bitter if I'm gonna be able to grab the next vacant seat..

I would be focusing on surfing the net (shopping online nonetheless) instead of my poor aching feet... A very nice distraction indeed!

Being the fashion crazed person that I am, I probably would be able to capture pictures like this and share it with the world!

Eyelash Extensions

I've decided it is official!! I don't like anything extended! This time its eyelashes!
But I'm perfectly fine with fake stuff though i.e fake lashes and fake hair (wigs).

The 1st extension was hair. IT was a disaster. (read older post)

My Episode of eyelash extensions:

I was just supposed to accompany Yuan yuan to city plaza to do her hair extensions. She found this hair extension place at city plaza, Angel Xin, with good reviews by other girls and she wanted to go try it out.

*It can be bothersome having to wait a year or two to have long beautiful hair.

*She can't wait.

They had this promotion: Free lash extension worth $30 with $150 spent.

Yuan decided she'll stick to plain old mascara and so passed on this free service to excited me.
Well, this was my 1st time trying and I thought it would be great as I can reduce the hassle of sticking on and removing falsies.

I was told to lie on this very uncomfortable bed. By being uncomfortable means there is no comfortable spot that I could rest my head.. My neck felt strained and I had the feeling of a sprained neck.

I decided to not be fussy about it and assumed the process shouldn't take very long..

UNFORTUNATELY

Just a few minutes into the process, a shriek came from one of the girls," ahhhh!!!!! There's a mouse!!! A MOUSE!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!"

I was left alone, lying helplessly on the bed and I can't see shit.. (I was told not to open my eyes)
My only consolation was that, the mouse probably won't be able to climb up the bed... Can it??

It seemed pandemonium just broke out all round me.. Things were shoved loudly and stuff were being thrashed about.
Boy!! Were the girls' voices loud!! Super high pitched shrieks and it really got on my nerves.....

What could I do? Nothing. Just lying there praying my neck won't snap and hopefully for the saga to be over soon.. I was randomly asked,"Woah customer! You not scared of mouse ah? You really brave le!" (more shoving and screaming) I could only answer,"I can't see shit"

Blah blah.... BLAH....................

More whining and thrashing........

BLAH blah!!...................

I was most tempted to shove the mouse in her face... *evil*

In the end, the little mouse can't stand all the shrieking anymore and ran off to nice neighbour's place...???

Finally!!! My new lashies are done and they feel ultra stiff! ( I was more glad my neck didn't give way)

I was told, it can last about a month if I'm extra careful..

Now the problems come..

1) When I wash my face, I can't clean the water off my face properly. The lashes are so stiff, it bends at an awkward angle and it feels prickly.
Often, the water would have gone into my eyes and it stings.

2) When I want to remove my makeup using the cotton pad, the cotton fibers cling onto the lashes.

3) When my eyelids get oily, I suspect it kinda melts the glue and drips into my eyes and it really stings like hell!!!! Tears just flow freely.. I can't just swipe it off cos I must take care not to destroy the lashes..

4) It only lasted 2 weeks, which I'm perfectly fine with it. But as you know, it's impossible for them to fall off evenly, so the right lashes start falling off more than the left.
Because it's intertwined together, I cannot just pull everything off. It hurts too!!! I must also protect my own lashes!

More just came off over the days. I thought I would be able to impress my boyfriend with this new 'plaything'. Fat chance.

It became ugly beyond words.. I was 'botak' on the right eye. Sticking on falsies made it look really unnatural cos 1 side is thicker than the other..... :(

I got fed up and decided to just try removing the ones on the left.

Disaster!!!

I got a 1mm 'botakness' off my real lashes!! I was upset.. I knew I was bound to lose some of my own but I didn't expect a lobang (hole). SOBZ!!

I suspect eyelashes are harder to grow as compared to your hair/eyebrows.
Bad mood the next few days...

Conclusion: NOT recommended!

Do Singaporeans Dress Badly?

This has been a widely discussed topic in recent times. In the Straits Times Life! section and in the weekly fashion Urban papers.

Yes, is my unfortunate answer... I already have a list of people I know in hand, who are just too lazy to dress up and may have committed serious fashion faux pas unknowingly.

Being a hairstylist myself, I do fuss about the way I look 99% of the time..Image is everything in this line. There are times of PMSes when I just feel lousy and couldn't be bothered much. BUT! I still won't be caught dead wearing my PJs out! That is so wrong!

Singaporeans often like to dress in tee shirt and jeans/shorts/berms. Is it because of the hot and humid weather that has started to fry whatever dressing up moods we are in?

For girls, wearing shorts at the right occasion is ok because we get to show off our sexy legs. With so many fashion outlets popping up all over Singapore and at affordable prices, there really is no excuse to look sloppy. No FBT type shorts please!

As for guys, I absolutely cannot stand any of them wearing 'shorts' that is grossly above mid thigh. What's with the guys wearing sports wear like 364 days a year? I can't stand the sports jerseys too.

And then there are the executives. There are a minority who really knows what fashion is about, even at work. The majority are just wearing ill-fitting shirts and pants and colours are just dull and boring.

I just saw recently in the Straits Times: "Singapore has fallen to 3rd place in World's most competitive economy"

What?!! 3rd place in the whole world? They make it sound so upsetting that we have fallen in rank.. AHHH such a stressful country we are living in.. No wonder they have no moods to dress up nicely for work...

However, I believe we are not the worst dressers in the world. But we definitely cannot be compared to New York and Paris or Milan. Fashion heart throbs!

I remembered when I was going to go to the States for my holiday, I was so excited! It was winter time and I can finally put my pretty shawls, colourful leggings, cute beanies and fur lined jackets to good use!! What's the best thing? People won't stare at you like you are an alien from outer space because they are as colourful and trendy as you!

Perhaps, the weather does play a part in determining Singaporeans' wardrobe. i.e. You have got to remove that jacket 5 minutes after putting it on. Your under arms dangerously close to dripping sweat...

BUT that is sooo boring!! We shouldn't let that deter us from looking good! You only live once right? And of course there's anti-perspirant!

I have no idea how can one even step out of the house looking like this?!! It is obvious the tee shirt is too short for him AND horribly exposing his hairy and big stomach..

In my phase of growing up, I have tried different types of looks starting from my teenage years and it was fun! I've had different coloured hair at different lengths, which includes pink, purple, green and more!
Now, I'm in my phase of looking polished. As you get older, you gotta tone done a wee bit.. :D No more green bangs...

*Flip flops: They either make or break you.

Flip flops doesn't have to be the sloppy looking ones you get from the market. Nowadays, the girl's version has lots of bling and flowers and pretty colours available! No crocs please!!! aRghh
Hawaianas brand of flip flops have plenty of pretty and cool designs for males and females!

*PJs: Noooo.... PJs are meant for the eyes of your soft toys only.

I almost fainted once when my dear friend came down in her PJs to meet me. Very courageous indeed!
Of course she was trying to be all discreet and she only had to walk past one very crowded, bright coffeeshop at night (the darkness keep things veiled) just to get something from me...

Luckily I had to rush. I wouldn't want her to have risked having tea with me at the crowded coffeshop in her garfield PJs...

What we had to do was: transform lovely eyes into gorgeous cat eyes...> Mascara, liners and all!

This is the Kabuki brush (whatever that is) that allows even distribution of power on your face. I got it to use with my mineral powder foundation! Mineral foundation is really good! Especially combined with this wonderful Kabuki brush....
Light and flawless (well.. almost)

Next is the shadow contour brush, which I got, to contour my nose.

3rd from left: I lost my eyebrow groomer so this is actually a replacement. :D followed by the eyebrow brush.

I was referred to a friend to do hair and makeup for a film production. I had never done it for a production before. So, I thought this would be a good exposure and also to find out how this industry is like!

1st shoot Location: Aranda country club executive suite. Oh Man! it was like a 3 room flat! Situated just beside downtown east, I can see the water theme park from the country club... Makes me itch to just jump over and join in the fun on this hot hot day!

Fashion design Graduation at Temasek Poly

Ohh! Recently I got a makeup job at Temasek Polytechnic for the graduation of the fashion design students!

By god, I was awed by their fantastic creations! They hand-made everything themselves, down to the necklaces and bags....
I saw my potential wedding dress design over there too! :D

There were 24 models to be made up, divided into four main groups. I was assigned to do the foundation. Man! It was back aching work; we had to stand and bend at an awkward angle.

After they were all made up, it's show time!

We went back stage of the auditorium to help do touch ups for the models and take pictures!

Damn! I look horrible... But do take a look at the clothes. Very nice right?

After that, we snuck to the front to watch the fashion show. It was fantastic! Reminded me a bit of project runway.

Overall it was a fun and nice show. Graduation! How not to feel proud of oneself?

Why does curly hair look and feel drier

Having straight hair for the longest time, it is oh so tempting to get your locks curled and being the IT hair of the season. VoluME! Curls! and more VOLUME!

Before you know it, you've got curly hair! However, you are not too excited already because it somehow feels drier and doesnt look as shiny as before... :( and maybe, more volume than you want....

Haiz.... why? oh why????

As I've mentioned earlier in my post on curls: it takes more effort to maintain as compared to straight hair. Be it the merest hint of a wave, man made or natural.

Question: Why does curly hair look drier?

This is because light refracts in all directions on curly hair, so it gives the illusion of less shiny locks even if your hair is 99% healthy. (let's leave a leeway of 1% to benefit of the doubt for errors)

Question: Why does my (curly) hair feel so dry? Especially at the ends?

Sebum (natural oil) is produced from your scalp. It usually will be able to 'travel' till the midlength of your hair and keep it smooth and shiny and protected. So, the longer you keep your hair, the harder it is for your natural oils to reach the length of it.

On top of that, with the ends not having sebum protection, mechanical abrasion and careless handling result in the ends being damaged easily.

Besides, 1 in 3 ladies can't resist having their hair chemically treated. So, prior to any other processes, the hair is not 'virgin' anymore to start with.

So, you whine, "that means I can't have curly locks like Goldilocks, or long hair then?" SOBZ..

Of course you can!! MOISTURE MOISTURE AND MORE MOISTURE is the key to maintenance, for curly and long hair plus regular trims. Every 3 months or so would be good for ladies.
If you are not willing to go the extra mile for it, then I suggest you don't even try...

How far you are willing to go for your hair is important in helping you to decide if you want a change of style.

Note: Infuse moisture only on mid lengths to ends only. Always use conditioner after shampooing.

Why then does the models' hair in magazines look so pretty and shiny and curly? And long and nice and princessy? I want! I want!

Don't be fooled by the looks of them in magazines.. Heard of photo imaging? One of the best and most powerful tool in photography. Besides, the models are pretty savvy at handling their hair and they have hair stylists to do it for them for every shoot.

P/S: I'll be glad to do this for you everyday if you can afford it too! :D

Tip: For heat styling, it is always a must to use pre-heat protector before hand. Heat temporarily seals in the cuticles and moisture so that explains why hair looks so smooth after flat ironing or thonging.

Basic steps to makeup

Girls! In this society where impression counts and the nicer looking girls get more treats, it's really time to start experimenting with some makeup!

Step 1: Cleanse your face

Step 2: Toner, moisturizer and sunblock (moisturizer/sunblock acts as a base prior to foundation so that makeup does not come into direct contact with your skin)

Step 3: Concealer (dab concealer on required areas only i.e under eye circles, blemish, red spots) and pat blend in

Step 4: Liquid/cream Foundation -- Dot on red spots or uneven areas of skin usually along the or on the nose, under eyes and corners of the mouth.
Moving from inside of face outward, blend well into skin using clean fingers/nylon brush/wedge sponge.

Blend at hairline and jawline

Note: Foundation is not necessarily required to be used all over the face for your daily work/shopping routine.

Tip: Liquid foundation offers a medium to full coverage and it is easy to use. (my personal favourite) For light coverage, opt for a powder foundation. The new mineral range is great!

Too much foundation on good skin makes one look too 'made up'... Go for light loose powder ones instead or none at all!
For those with God given good skin, you may just want to concentrate on the eye and have fun with colours!

Step 5: brush loose powder lightly with a large brush to set foundation. You can go without the loose powder for a more dewy look.

Step 6: Blusher on apple of your cheeks

* Once skin tone is evened out, the skin will lack colour. Bring it back with bronzer/blush or both.
How to apply bronzer: Apply using a big fluffy brush on the forehead, cheeks and nose. (where sun naturally hits) follow with blush.

Tip: Creamy blush creates a dewy complexion better than powder ones.

Step 7: Do your eye makeup. For simplicity, eyeliner and mascara are sufficient.

Tip: Pencil liners are easier to use as compared to liquid ones. Choose a soft tip one so it draws easily onto your lids without dragging the skin. Follow the top outline of ur eye. Fill in the bottom if you want bolder and more intense eyes.

This was a most entertaining night! The MC, Justin, that the party committee hired was just absolutely fantastic and hilarious. He successfully engages the audience and got us roaring in laughter. I mean belly aching laughter! Never heard of him until this night and never going to forget this wonderful MC.

Anyone thinking of a wedding event or party, hiring Justin is a highly recommended choice though I don't think his fees are cheap... Be sure to invite me to attend!

For this night's entertainment, there was sing and dance performed by people in glitzy costumes! I love watching them and maybe I'm going to fall in love with musicals from now on... A group of acapella singers and they were damn good!

We got the Best hunk and Best Babe award! Shortlisted amongst all the nicely dressed up people on this night. Embarrassing no less to get this 'trophy'... ~.~ll

In this fast moving pace of life, we are the stars in our world.

Look at his face. He is acting out what we should do to get the best babe award. It was ridiculous and none of us followed him. We did our own versions.

I was the last to go. I just had to be a little more daring than the other girls (not as daring as Justin the man) and I got the prize! Lol!

Function was held at Marriott's and the food was 'ok'. Just the usual course of Chinese dinner...

But thumbs up for the wonderful entertainment!

Playing with hair extensions

Hair extensions in my opinion(those that last for months)....HORRIBLE

The last time I did try out hair extensions, I was eager to have long hair.
I went to city plaza to check out the price as from many reviews, many girls go over there to get CHEAP and beautiful extensions... Now, you don't need to go all the way there.
you can find in many places those china hair extensions shop in bugis, far east plaza etc...

**Curly ones are $2 per strand!! Damn! that was what I wanted. so it's kinda double the price from the straight ones at $0.50(bad quality hair) or $1(better quality) per strand.
Imagine the few miserable strands of hair make up one one single 'strand' glued together.. How many would I need?

There are 2 options for the extension. The clips kind or the braided kind. Braided ones are double the price! *horrified* but supposedly able to last up to 6 months... whereas for the clips, maximum 2 months and you've got to have it removed or else the hairs will tangle and it will be very hard to detangle.

I told her to try out $50 worth of fake curly hair..
Guess what? It only covered the bottom part of my nape area.. not even halfway through to the back of my head! so added another $30 worth of curly hairs to the outline at the sides.

Result? DISASTER

It was damn fake I tell you. The ends were ultra thin and too long. I thought, if I were to complete the whole head so the style would look more even, my head will be so heavy from all the clips and I don't think I'll be able to sleep at night. If I chose to get the braided ones, it'll cost me a bomb!! Totally out of budget.. I might as well grow out real hair!

They charge for removal of the hairs! Forget it!

I was extremely displeased. I went home and chopped half the length off myself! It was like cutting up money... SOBZ but I had to do that so it'll be more even and less fake.

The girl clipped the extension to my hair too tightly. My scalp hurts. Washing is a major problem. I feel unclean. Constant stress is on my scalp. I could only take it for 1 month.
It is not good to have such tension on the scalp. It causes traction hair loss.

My advice: I would buy a nice long curly wig or those DIY clip in extensions. It is a much better investment as you get to keep your 'hair' and use it when your mood fits.

What happens when females buy too much of something?

We get together to sell stuff on the 8 days celebrity Car Boot Flea! (and one poor male having to drive us there and help to clear junk willingly.)

He fears having to bring the junk back more, which acts as a source of motivation for him.

It was an extremely HOT and sunny day and our skin were burning in the process...

Our wares... It just looks kinda 'junky' all over the place. The clothes rack was brought along by Jo, an experienced car boot flea-er no less! This is apparently her 2nd time but my virgin first!

Looking good posing as the basket girl?? Dropped my handphone in the process of posing! Sheesh!

Free redbull! so happy! WE were dying of thirst and hunger... and behaving quite aunty-ish; carrying umbrellas and fanning furiously, sitting down with our legs propped up.

Best aunty-ish stunt of the day: Having one Carl's Junior meal and having multiple free soft drinks refill to be shared among us just by using their cup!

We were actually quite worried that it will accidentally get trampled by the shoppers... Tsk tsk.. Dangerous..

This is absolutely adorable! I always feel happy when I see animals. I ALMOST feel like I can communicate with them.. When I stroke their fur and say hi to them, I kinda expected them to say hi to me back! Just like Dr Dolittle perhaps??? I must be going bonkers...

See how fat it is? Snowy white fur.... HAving a good life eh?

At the end of the day, we had pretty good earnings (had enough cash to treat ourselves to MOS burger and more left over) but very bad sun burn!

Big patch of burned skin... really itchy man.

To end it all, I committed a terrible sin. I bought new stuff while clearing old junk!! One of it is this pair of gold heels that's supposed to be from a reputable brand NUE

I got no idea and have never heard of this brand but what the heck, it's cheap ($25)! IT's new and it's pretty looking!

The original price from boutiques was supposed to be over a hundred! But it was being sold here at the car boot flea by china people. As you know china people always have ways to get such good stuffs at a fraction of a price... AMAZING! Comes with original paper bag even...

It even looks good when I wear it with my PJs!

Truths to Hair Myths

Here's some truth to bust some myths...

Myth 1: Cutting hair makes it stronger/grows faster

Hair grows from the scalp.

What it actually means is that, our hair naturally has different lengths and the hair ends are of a smaller diameter.
So, when it is cut short, it appears to be thicker. If you are trying to grow out your hair, the uncut ends will have been months or even years old, exposed constantly to the weather and physical conditions. These hair ends are prone to breakage without proper care. So, when cut off, it seems that your hair is healthier. When there's less breakage, you may find your hair seems longer too!

A healthy diet plays a part in healthy hair. Include sufficient vitamin B and protein in your diet for better hair growth.

Myth 2. You can repair split ends

Split ends can never be repaired unless u cut them off.
Products used on already split hair only temporarily 'glue' the ends together until the hair is washed or combed.
So in order to prevent this, constant care must be given before the hair is split too much and you need to cut a chunk off!
After every chemical process, it's always advisable to do the accompanied treatment to replenish the moisture.

Myth 3. Frequent shampooing dries my hair.

In this hot and humid climate its best to wash your hair once a day! Complete with conditioning for ladies! Or males with longer hair...when your hair is clean, you get lesser scalp problems or the yikey stinky smell..the key is to choose the right shampoo and products for your hair to replenish moisture not 'oil'.

Myth 4. Frequent shampooing makes my hair fall out more

We are often put off by the amount of hair that comes out during shampooing. But in actual fact, shampooing only removes the loose hair already detached from the scalp.
Shampooing has a stimulative effect on the hair so those who don't wash your hair often, do so now!

Myth 5. Brushing your hair 100 strokes is good for it.

I know this is just an excuse to skive!
When your boss asks you what the hell you are doing, brushing your hair when you are supposed to be working?!

You reply,"Boss, brushing your hair a 100 times a day is good for your scalp! (Boss happens to be balding) Now I'm into 34 times, 35, 36.......39, 40....

Being the workaholics nowadays, what better time to do so in the office. Nah! Having to brush your hair 100 times before going to bed is exhausting!

Anyway, this is bad for your hair! Try brushing your pet 100 times a day and see if you'll wear a hole on it..

Myth 6. Pull out one grey hair and two will grow..

I ll start pulling all my hairs out now! It's not true and it damages the hair follicles.

Myth 7. Dandruff is the cause of a dry scalp.

It is an OILY scalp that causes dandruff. So please do not try to oil your scalp thinking it's dry. You might worsen the condition.
Use an anti dandruff shampoo for 2 weeks or so.

How to use it correctly: shampoo your hair first in the bath after doing the proper lathering and massage, leave the foam on for a while before rinsing off. i.e: proceed to soap your body after and rinse everything off to save time.
when the dandruff is cleared, usually after 2 weeks or so or when you don't see flakes, revert back to your normal shampoo.

Myth 8. Colouring hair makes it fall out

There is no scientific evidence to support this. Contrarily, colouring hair to make you look good boosts your morale greatly!

Lotion (Cold) perm versus Digital (Hot) perm-What is the difference

We always wonder what's the difference between the lotion perm and the newer technology, Digital perm or also known as Ceremic perm?

In simple terms:
Lotion perm a.k.a cold perm, rollers are made of plastic.
Digital/Ceremic perm a.k.a hot perm, where the rollers are heated up.

Process of Cold perm:
1) Hair is wind onto rods (30min-40min depending on length)

2) Lotion applied and processed. Usually 15min to half an hour without heat, depending on hair texture.

Hair is rinsed

3) neutralising lotion (set for 10min)

4) treatment (10-20min)

5) styling and blow dry (30min)

The whole perming process will take about one half hour to 2 hours including blow dry.

Process of Digital (hot) perm :
Generally, the whole digital perm process takes about 3 hours or more to complete.

You probably will look like a monster with tentacles because of the many wires connected to the rollers. But well worth it!

1) softening ( ~30 to 45 min depending on hair texture. )

Hair is rinsed

2) winding of rollers in hair (~30min), heat processing (20min to 30min again depending on hair texture)

3) heat is applied to the rollers (~ 20-30min)

4) neutralising (10min)

5) treatment(~20min to 30min)

6) wash and blow styling (30 to 40min)

Maintenance after the hot perm is simpler because of lesser products required on the hair. The curls are more prominent when the hair is dry. Just twirl and scrunch and the bounce is back.

The reverse is true for the cold perm i.e: curls are more prominent when wet, and products are needed to 'catch the waves' , by twirling and scrunching so that when it dries, the curls are better defined.

So, hair using the cold perm technique has looser curls or waves whereas the curls or waves from the hot perm are 'bouncier'.

One other thing to note is that, if you want curls from the scalp onwards, it's not possible to use the hot perm technique as it runs the risk of burning the scalp.

Do consult your hairstylist on which is a better technique to use for your hair.
